The 10 facial dimorphism signals

A 0 to 10 spectrum from softer, more feminine shape to stronger, more masculine shape. It does not determine sex, gender or attractiveness. It is built from 10 separate signals, read across the jaw, brow, eyes, nose, lips, neck, hairline, hair and lower-face outline. Each page below explains what one signal measures, how it is read from the face, and how the whole celebrity library reads on it.

Methodology

Each signal is measured from AI-placed landmarks that we verify by hand, then placed on the same 0 to 10 scale. The pillar index combines the signals a face actually carries a reading for, so a missing signal drops out rather than counting as a middling 5. The combined reading is then spread symmetrically about the neutral 5 for display, which preserves both endpoints and the midpoint.

The signals do not all count equally. How much each one counts follows the strength of the published evidence behind it, not how large its measured difference happens to be in this library. Two signals do not read on every profile: the hairline needs temple pins placed by hand, and hair length needs a photo the image segmenter has processed.

Facial hair is defined as a signal but is not measured on any celebrity profile, so it has no page here and contributes nothing to their index. Photo angle, expression, lighting and landmark placement all affect a reading. These numbers describe the photographs analyzed, and they say nothing about a person's sex, gender or attractiveness.
